Dirty Rice

When I was a kid Dirty Rice was, in my mind, rice and seasoned hamburger. That’s it. Good for saving time and money, and not too bad tasting. I like this recipe better though, a little creaminess never hurt anything right?

Dirty Rice

Makes: about 6 servings

  • 1 uncooked cup brown rice
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (or this recipe)
  • 1 onion
  • 1 lb hamburger
  • 1 (5 oz) can evaporated milk
  • 1-2 cloves garlic, minced
  • salt and pepper to taste

Brown meat with onion, garlic, and drain fat. Add salt and pepper. Cook rice, and mix everything together. Serve now or put in a 9×13 baking dish, top with cheese and bake at 350 degrees until browned and bubbly.
