How do you learn to finish things? How do you know when things are worth finishing? I am discovering that I have difficulty completing projects and sticking with things and I want to change that. I’m not entirely sure how, but I’m determined to figure it out. Eventually. Someday. 😛
In all seriousness though, I’m going to start working on this, and hopefully kick this bad habit for good. Even if it takes a long time and many relapses. To start with I need to figure out how many projects I’ve got hanging out there undone, and decide if they’re worth finishing. If they are then I can’t start anything else until at least some of them are done. To begin I’m going to finish a few updates from previous posts on goals I’ve been working on.
Although I’m not getting every chore done every week, most get done at least every other week. So that’s something. 😛 I’ve fallen back on the index card method to an extent, but keep forgetting to actually check the index cards. I’ve been going off of memory and sometimes forget things. Today my plan is to look them over and see if they’ll still fit with my changing schedule. If so then I need to start using them again and finish making the pretty ones I was working on. (Note to self: That’s 1 unfinished project)
This will likely be ever ongoing and unending, and I’m okay with that. I want to always be asking myself if I really need so much stuff, and cycling out the old to make way for the new. All the decluttering I did after Derek was born has put me in the habit of looking out for unnecessary items and passing them on, and I’m really feeling more able to clean and tidy the house since purging so much. I’ve almost finished all the original projects on that to-do list, so there’s been some definite progress. Too bad I’m going to have to add some more.
I still want to eat healthy, but the I don’t think I’ll be going the Ketogenic route. I recently read the book What the Bible Says About Healthy Living and like a lot of what was in there. Even that is too much for me right now though. So until further notice I’m just focusing on trying to cut back on sugar. I eat way too much sugar.
Progress has been slow here, but good. He picks up his toys like a champ, he’s experimenting much more with utensils, and I’m seriously considering starting potty training soon. Things got behind for a bit because we had to do some ‘sleep training’. Derek needed the crib at night so we had to get Gabe used to a new bed. It took a little while, but both boys are now sleeping in the same room at night!
I have actually put some of the items from my list into practice. I did the ‘shop my cabinets’ thing, and it worked really well, but fell out of practice. I will be picking that up again this week Lord willing now that I’ve been reminded of it. I have made Breakfast and Lunch simpler, but mostly because I don’t want to take the time to make anything special for myself (seriously I think my 2 year old eats better than I do). The only other thing I did on the list was buying less convenience items. I’ve got a lot of work to do here, but I have an experiment I want to try out which might be exactly what I need. We’ll see!
I’ve actually really knuckled down on this one recently and have a lot of videos filmed. I hope to move to step 2 (posting said videos) next week sometime. We’ll see how things go after that. The initial plan has expanded somewhat, so there may be changes.
There! That wasn’t so bad. The original point of those posts was so I would keep on top of my goals, keep track of my progress (if any), and find out what works. Not updating them at least once made it feel like an unfinished project. So that’s one item taken care of; I feel better already. 🙂 I think I may have a few other incomplete posts on here, so I’ll hopefully tackle those next. I really need to make a list…you know how much I love those!
